Hand-written letters in this modern day time; using a film camera instead of a phone, picking flowers from a garden for the dinner table; roses & ice, copper & stone, hands holding fire—these things don't belong together; yet together, they make a bold statement. Together they hold elements of a different time, a different way of life; and together they create a mystical quality. The goal for the furniture design project was to create something that made users feel the same emotions the concept images inspire—to produce a chair that presents a physical representation of the marriage of old and new, the combination of different elements that come together as one cohesive piece.
